Lürssen's 'Solandge' reduced by €14 million, 'Capri' by €3 million and 'Blind Date' sold

In a buoyant week for the re-sale market preceding the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show, it is the activity on the second-hand Lürssen listings that, to-date, has been most conspicuous, with the iconic 85.1m M/Y Solandge undergoing a €14 million price cut, 58.6m M/Y Capri receiving a €3 million price cut, and 40.9m M/Y Blind Date sold for a final asking price of $2.95 million.

Commencing 2016 with a price tag of €175 million, Solandge, currently for sale with Moran Yacht & Ship, is now for sale at €155 million. Launched at the German yard’s Bremen facility in October 2013, she amasses 2,899 gross tons over six decks – an interior volume equivalent to around six 40–50m superyachts.

The exterior lines were penned by Monaco-based Espen Øino, a close collaborator with the yard, whilst architects Dölker + Voges and designer Aileen Rodriguez completed the interior work, apportioning accommodation for 16 guests over eight staterooms. Among the notable features on board are: two Jacuzzis, a swimming pool, a sauna, a gym, a cinema, a nine-person elevator, and twin Caterpillar 3516 engines (5,364hp).

Leagas Delaney marketing maestro Tim Delaney’s thought-provoking speech at the 2014 Global Superyacht Forum promoted ‘superyachts as brands’ with a focus on Solandge’s profile in particular – not just re-affirming her position as one of world’s most talked about yachts, but substantiating the claim that there is far more to this deal than the yacht itself.

The €3 million price reduction of Capri, currently for sale with Y.CO and Burgess, sees her berthed on Quai l'Hirondelle at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show with a new asking price of €24.95 million. She was last reduced in price by €5 million in September 2013.

The 2003 build is the smallest 21st century Lürssen delivery, with its average delivery since 2000 measuring 91.2m. The German yard’s only sub-80m delivery in the past five years is Ester III, which was listed for sale one month ago with Fraser Yachts for €79.5 million.

Exemplifying Lürssen’s build style is Capri's large gross tonnage of 1,226GT. This volume is most typically held by yachts of approximately 65m, with some yachts nearly reaching 80m in length. The design work, completed by Glade Johnson Design Inc., apportions accommodation for 12 guests over six staterooms.

Finally, the 1995 Lürssen build Blind Date has been sold with Merle Wood and John Cohen of Merle Wood & Associates representing the seller in conjunction with co-central agent Crispin Baynes of Burgess. She had a final asking price of $2.95 million.
